Philips Ergosensor: perfect ergonomics
The Philips Ergosensor we tested was still at the prototype stage and it is with great pleasure that we could have a few days in the laboratory. His reference is to be confirmed in the world market. Still, it integrates the best innovation of the year for the ergonomics of computer monitors.
Design and finishing
The model we received was not yet final. Besides ... it is simply the model that was exposed at the IFA. The line is very classic for a Philips screen. It was very good and it is far from the lyrical to a Philips 248C3 Moda example. Nevertheless, the finish is high quality of materials that breathe strength. It is not for nothing at Philips pro.
Ergonomics
Philips innovates again with this screen, most ergonomic we've seen to date. The device is adjustable in height and inclination, it has a rotating basis but portrait mode is not included. But the real good idea, it is the integration of a sensor position as a small webcam coupled with a really clever, that analyzes your posture and advise you if necessary. At the trial, it is really stunning. Head port, remote address on the screen, eye level, nothing escapes him. Stronger still, the screen is able to tell if you're tired and suggest a break if needed. Even if this function is more gadget, the analysis of user behavior is a blatant use to avoid sore neck and eye strain. It could not be more relevant to who spends much time in front of his PC. Obviously, the system also detects the absence of the user to switch from standby to save energy history. Announcements made by the monitor are discrete and sufficiently spaced to be informative without being obtrusive. For example, here's what we read when the user is too close to the screen.

Unfortunately, the OSD was not translated in our version. One can of course disable the drop down menu. It is well done. Based on the information that we may have, this is a micro-camera original ST (doodle-doo!) already at work also in other devices to bring a bit of intelligence. Equipment
The equipment is fairly standard, with a rather pro connectivity, including DVI and VGA but not HDMI. A small USB hub is the part but it is unclear whether taken on the final version, to see.
Consumption
Consumption of Philips Ergo-sensor is higher than the others, at 33 W. That's a lot for a 24 inch but it is not unusual on the pro models. Ergo sensor function reduces the brightness according to ambient brightness. Furthermore, the presence detection must also be credited to the Philips Ergo-sensor.
